ONE WATER - MANY ECOLOGIES

This is an invitation to participate in ART RAFT

Together we will create a sprawling collage of big picture imaginings and micro moments, sharing creative reflections from the Coquun/Hunter River, on Awabakal and Worimi Country.

Through COMMUNITY CONSTELLATION, we’re inviting contributions of local artworks (drawings, poems, photos, whatever makes sense for you!), responding to the river and our collective imaginings for its future. We want to listen to the water, and hear what it has to say!

Your creative contribution will be logged and compiled on the ART RAFT website, alongside other contributions from artists and community members (here and further afield).

This is a place for creativity, experimentation, and collective visions that honour the river—its long lineages of culture, creativity, joy, resistance and community. Your offering could take the form of a note or a question, a song or a video, a poem or a sketch. We are keen to receive any and all creative contributions!

With gratitude and solidarity, alongside all who imagine more just futures!

Today the river spoke to me The river whose grandfather presence sits large in its landscape, its broad slow waters holding space for the wide, vast valley Its brown muddied state, denuded banks, motley remnant, and cleared flats not diminishing its proud appeal It was, I realise, right there when I was born Now I know that it witnessed my arrival and my growing And that it is assured by my return
